Marine Research Institute

Sperre AS has chosen a SUB-Fighter 7500 for the task of mapping coral reefs off the coast of Iceland.

Iceland's Marine Research Institute (MRI) is a research institute belonging to the Icelandic Ministry of FIsheries. MRI was established in 1965. The Institute has around 170 employees and acts as an advisory organ for the Ministry.

Sperre AS was contracted by the MRI to provide assistance in performing marine biological investigations in Icelandic waters and started work in June 2004. A SUB-Fighter 7500 was utilised for the operations involved. The ROV was specified with advanced photographic and laser equipment and shipped to Iceland.



MRI concentrates on the marine environment around Iceland, which it is continuously monitored as part of a number of studies. Sperre AS provides ROV expertise and equipment in mapping coral reefs around the coast of Iceland.
